From the very first idea to create SaBaR as a label and a Triathlete’s support system, I have made the strong commitment to operate under strict ethical guidelines and to create a 100 % Australian product. This means that we:

• Source all of our fabrics from Australian producers. None of our fabrics and materials are imported, but made here in Australia.
• Manufacture and sew all of our garments here in Tasmania.
• Hand make
• Using small, local business for all of our printing and labeling needs.

Our fabric

The fabric for all our garments (except our swimwear) is produced  by Technical Fabric Services Australia PTY Ltd - TFS, situated in the Gold Coast shire, Queensland, a 100% Australian owned business, operating since 2004.

The production plant operates under committed environmental benchmarks and world’s best practices.

Our Garment production team

We are very fortunate to be working with an experienced and skilled team of fabric printers and industrial seamstresses, here in Tasmania. We have collaborated with “ Simply Oarsome” , situated in Sheffield, Tasmania, to develop our own label. Martine and her team produce specialized rowing apparel as well as all of our running, cycling and triathlon garments.

Admittedly only the one piece in our collection at the moment, but we feel we had to design SaBar’s own flagship bather, so all of our female swimmers can show off their stripes! Guys, we will design your very own, be patient J

Our fabric for this item comes from “ Eclipse” , Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia. Established in 1987, Eclipse Textiles imports Italian premium quality LYCRA fabrics and blends it with Australian as well as other products from Brazil, Korea and China.

Our Nutrition

SaBaR Endurance Nutrition came to life after personally trying many, many products, currently on the market. I found them too sweet, too sticky and difficult to swallow, hard to digest during racing and badly packaged for people “on the go”.

Many, many days were spend in the kitchen, perfecting my recipes and like our apparel range, nutrition samples went out to local athletes who prepared their daily training schedule with SaBar products. Back in the lab – kitchen we made the final changes and came up with a product which we think is unique in its qualities:

• Super yummy, not to sweet  with a hint of touch salt
• Easy to chew. SaBaR Nutrition is like a “bliss ball”, only square. It holds together well, has no hard and lumpy bits and is easy to swallow, even in tough, dry, hot race conditions.
• Handmade, means we make small batches of SaBaR Nutrition, so you get it as fresh as fresh can be. There are no machines involved, apart from a blender. All bags are weighed and packed by loving hands.
• Locally grown, means we try and source our produce from Australia. We do have the best and yummiest produce right here, especially our Australian Apricots and Tasmanian Walnuts. Sometimes we need to purchase our bulk ingredients from other countries, but we will make sure the products are organically grown whenever possible.
• The many have NOT’s: Our product does not contain any colour, preservative, wheat, gluten, cane sugar or dairy. If you are a Vegan eater, SaBaR is safe for you to eat.
• Our packaging was really important to us. As a triathletes, runner and cyclist, I need quick, easy access to my nutrition. We have packaged our small bags in easy to reseal zip lock bags, which fit into our specially designed back pockets of all our SaBaR apparel, in your bento bow and the back of cycling jerseys. We made them  into bite sized treats, every single one, easy to fish out of the bag!
• Save money and buy bulk: every bulk bag contains 4 x the amount of a small “on the go “ bag. Keep your little bag and re fill – re fuel – re cycle.
• All of our packaging, printing and advertising material has been done by local Tasmanian business, from a Sheet metal  business who made us special sized food trays to local printers for all of our labels and a family do it yourself day when we cut out and build all of our Nutrition display boxes!
